Chevrolet Express 1500 A/C Compressor Cut-Out Switches Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to Replace A/C Compressor Cut-Out Switches for High Pressure Switch on Chevrolet Express 1500?
A: The first step to switch out the a/c high pressure switch requires a/c system refrigerant recovery. The cleaning process must happen first before the snap ring removal step so the high pressure switch electrical connector needs disconnection. Create the a/c high pressure switch removal process by using snap ring pliers (J 5403) along with removing the snap ring to extract the switch from the compressor. Either the o-ring remover (J 9553-01) or another o-ring tool can be used to remove the old o-ring seal from the switch cavity. Inspect both the cavity and the o-ring groove thoroughly for any foreign or dirty material before cleaning as required. The installation requires new 525 viscosity refrigerant oil for lubricating an o-ring before positioning it into the switch cavity groove. Apply the same oil to the control switch housing before fully inserting it into the cavity when the switch reaches its lowest point. To install the snap ring use snap ring pliers (J 5403) by placing its high part facing the switch housing into the retaining groove with precision placement. The a/c system evacuation follows by recharging operations then comes a leak test of fittings using the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A).
