Vehicle elevation followed by placement of a drain pan beneath the transmission
Oil Pan is required to service and repair the 4l80-e automatic transmission fluid and filter. The service begins by removing the drainage plug from the Oil Pan followed by unfastening the pan bolts and then removing the pan altogether. Begin by removing gasket items including the magnet series together with the
Oil Filter and filter neck seal before checking the reusable transmission Oil Pan Gasket for repair needs. Solvent should be used to clean both the transmission case and Oil Pan Gasket surfaces. Begin the installation by putting in the filter neck seal followed by the Oil Filter. Position the magnet at the bottom of the pan after attaching the Oil Pan Gasket onto its surface. There are seventeen transmission bolts that should be installed to secure the Oil Pan which requires 11 nm (97 inch lbs.) torque force. Proceed with installation of the Drain Plug by applying gm p/n 12346004 sealant to its threads along with subsequent tightening to 18 nm (13 ft. Lbs.). To complete the process lastly lower the vehicle and properly fill the transmission with dexron iii transmission fluid.
