Begin fixing the
Valve Stem Oil Seal and valve spring by taking off the valve
Rocker Arm cover and then removing each needed valve Rocker Arm and
Spark Plug. Connect the j 22794 device (Spark Plug Port Adapter) into the Spark Plug opening then use compressed air from a shop supply to keep valves secure during removal. Install a flat washer onto a valve Rocker Arm bolt before you place the bolt into its valve spring bolt hole to remove that specific valve spring. Take extra care while using the valve spring compressor because the compressed valve springs create strong tension against the tool that pushes springs out forcefully when you handle them wrong. Use the j 5892-d (Valve Spring Compressor) tool with its slotted end under the valve Rocker Arm bolt washer while applying continuous force until you reach the valve keys. When the j 5892-d does not work, use j 38606 which requires full valve spring contact to prevent damage from slipping. Before continuing remove the valve keys then relax valve spring pressure using the j 5892-d or j 38606 before taking out the valve spring cap followed by the valve spring. Place the Valve Stem Oil Seal into position and oil both the valve guide and oil seal with clean engine oil before applying the j 42073 tool to install the seal onto the valve guide with (1 to 2 mm) gap. Install the valve spring and valve spring cap afterward compress the valve spring using j 5892-d or j 38606 as required. Insert the valve stem o-ring seal and valve stem keys first while applying grease then slowly let up valve spring pressure as keys find their appropriate position. After removing the j 5892-d or j 38606 tools check valve stem key position by tapping the valve stem before installing all valve components (J 22794, spark plugs, valve rocker arms, valve Rocker Arm cover).
