To replace the front seat cushion cover and pad the first step is if equipped with a power seat adjuster you may raise the seat to the full up position and remove the seat ff the vehicle. Next, take off the seat back cover so as the recliner mechanism bolts become visible (2, 7), and then unscrew the bolts. Unhook the seat back from the seat assemble as well as the seat cushion from the seat adjuster assemble. Remove the recliner handle and power seat adjuster switch if applicable. Unfasten the seat cushion frame from the adjuster assembly using the bolts, and free seat cushion j channel retainers, and hook and loop strips that fasten seat cushion cover to the Seat Cushion Pad at the same time. Take the seat cushion cover out of the foam pad and then later the foam pad off the cushion frame. It is critical to replace the passenger presence system as a whole unit to prevent any conceivable harm, and in replacing a front passenger Seat Cushion Pad, the inflatable restraint passenger presence system has to be replaced as well. In terms of installation, when replacing Seat Cushion Pad on a seat with a power adjuster, take away the perforated section in the front of the cushion pad, place the foam pad to seat cushion frame, then place the seat cushion cover over foam pad. Attach the j channel retainers to hold the seat cushion cover onto the seat cushion frame . Seat Switch in the bracket on the inside of the cover and make an "x" cut within the opening. Assemble the power Seat Switch then find the recliner mechanism rod position by going through the cover of the cushion then make a small cut and a cross on it where the recliner rod goes through. Slip over the cover and the recliner mechanism rod then install the recliner handle. Position the seat cushion assembly back to the seat back as well as the installation of the bolts (3, 7) to a torque of 32 nm ( 24 lb ft) followed by positioning the seat assembly to the seat adjuster assembly and tightening to a uniform torque of 25 nm ( 18 lb ft). Finally, if the seat cushion has ever been replaced, or any part of the passenger presence system is removed, install the seat into the vehicle and re-zero the inflatable restraint passenger presence system to avoid system malfunctions.
