Chevrolet Express 3500 A/C Condenser Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Condenser in the HVAC system on Chevrolet Express 3500?
A: Begin by recovering all refrigerant from the A/C system to replace the condenser in the HVAC system. Start by removing the grille before removing the discharge hose retaining nut and discharging hose from the condenser unit. The next step involves removing both the evaporator hose retaining nut along with the evaporator hose from the condenser structure. Remove the outside air temperature bracket bolt and disconnect the electrical connector from the outside air temperature sensor before bracket removal. Before removing the condenser you must first remove both the hoses' sealing washers and the condenser retaining bolts. Cap off the condenser fittings. As part of replacing the condenser apply PAG oil according to specifications directly to the device followed by removing the condenser plugs and installing fresh sealing washers. Use the condenser retaining bolts to mount the condenser afterwards tightening them to 9 N.m (80 lb in). First reinstall the outside air temperature bracket with its bolt before connecting the outside air temperature sensor electrical connector. Secure the evaporator hose to the condenser with the evaporator hose retaining nut while applying torque to 16 N.m (12 lb ft). You should install the discharge hose at the condenser while using the discharge hose nut which must be tightened to 16 N.m (12 lb ft). The procedure ends with grille installation followed by A/C system evacuation and recharging and a leak test on the fittings through use of the Halogen Leak Detector J 39400-A.
