You must uninstall the valve
Rocker Arm before you begin to replace the
Valve Stem Oil Seal and valve spring. Twist each
Spark Plug wire boot by half a turn before removing it through the boot alone. Hotel the engine to room temperature and use caution when removing the spark plugs by rotating them 1 or 2 turns. Also clear away any dirt that might surround the plug area. Install (J 22794) into the Spark Plug hole while connecting an air hose for pressurized air to maintain valve position. Player (J 38606) helps you compress the valve spring before you take out the valve stem keys to release the valve spring tension. Using tools j 38606 and removing the valve spring cap leads you to extract the valve spring and Valve Stem Oil Seal and shim assembly (1, 5). Clean the cylinder head valve spring seat or shim area before applying clean engine oil to the valve guide and Valve Stem Oil Seal. Install the Valve Stem Oil Seal and shim (1, 5). Insert the valve spring first followed by the valve spring cap. Use tool (J 38606) to compress the valve spring before installing the valve keys. Coat the keys with grease and check that they properly rest in the valve stem's groove. Ungrip (J 38606) slightly to reduce valve spring pressure before you remover (J 38606). If needed, hit the top of the valve stem with a plastic hammer to seat the retaining pins. Insert (J 22794) into the Spark Plug port to produce a starting action followed by tightening the plug to 15 n.m (11 lb ft) using manual torque. Verify the Spark Plug wire installation by first mounting each boot to its coil then to its plug before checking for any loose fittings by pushing on each boot. Install valve Rocker Arm as the last step.
