Chevrolet Express 3500 Steering Column Cover Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the Steering Column Cover on Chevrolet Express 3500?
A: To replace the steering column trim covers, disable further the sir system and remove the battery negative cable. Pull out the Steering Wheel and gap hider, and align the steering column in the center position. Take off the tilt lever and take off the closeout trim cover from the lower portion of the steering column. Lift the upper trim cover in order to expose the lock cylinder access hole and using a bent tip awl, strike the access hole of the Ignition Lock Cylinder. Make the Ignition Lock Cylinder to the start position and depress the retaining pin with the bent tip awl, lifting the Ignition Lock Cylinder into run position and then extracting it. Then, you will take away from the upper trim cover and from the closeout trim cover from the upper trim cover. In terms of installation, snap the upper steering column trim cover into the closeout trim cover and finally install the upper trim cover into the steering column. Install the Ignition Lock Cylinder, the lower trim cover making sure to tab onto the upper trim cover snapping it in. Connect the lower steering column trim cover to the closeout trim cover, fit the tilt lever, the gap hider, and the Steering Wheel. Lastly, reconnect the negative Battery Cable and turn on the sir system.
