How to Properly Replace a Fuel Pump Strainer on a Chevrolet Blazer?

Your first step in replacing the Fuel Pump Strainer should be disconnecting the negative Battery Cable while following the battery disconnect caution guidelines. Before starting the task users must remove pressure from the fuel system and empty the Fuel Tank. The next step includes Fuel Tank removal together with the fuel sender assembly where you note the position of the Fuel Pump Strainer installed on the fuel sender. Use a hand to stabilize the fuel sender assembly while using the other hand to pull off the strainer from the fuel sender assembly for inspection prior to disposal. Throw away contaminated strainers when you replace them and perform a Fuel Tank cleaning operation. To install the new strainer place it into the marked position on the fuel sender base before it achieves full seating. After installation of the fuel sender assembly the Fuel Tank needs refilling along with the fuel filler cap. The negative Battery Cable should be reconnected while inspecting for leakage by running the ignition for two seconds followed by a ten-second off period before replaying the ignition to confirm fuel leakage.
