Another component important for the Chevrolet HHR is the Thermostat which as usual finds a place in the vicinity of the Radiator. Its major use is in maintaining the temperature of the engine to the right levels that will offer the premier performance. These are control devices that are used to sense the temperature and switch ON or OFF the heating or cooling appliances in houses, offices, and industries for climatic conditioning. Some of the older styles of thermostats used are the mechanical thermostats that include the bimetallic strip thermostats and wax pellet thermostats and pneumatic thermostats that employ the use of air-filled control tubes. These devices function by either turning on or off heating or cooling systems or in controlling the flow of heat transfer fluids to improve comfort and efficiency in Chevrolet HHR cars.

Chevrolet HHR Thermostat Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the engine coolant thermostat on Chevrolet HHR?
    A:
First drain the cooling system before replacing the engine coolant Thermostat. First you must move the radiator outlet hose clamp at the Thermostat Housing before you can take the radiator outlet hose off of the Thermostat Housing. You should start by removing the Thermostat Housing cover by taking out its bolts and the cover and then removing the Thermostat before discarding the Thermostat Housing o-ring seal. Begin installation by placing a new Thermostat Housing cover o-ring seal followed by installing the specified Thermostat. Secure the radiator outlet hose to the Thermostat Housing then position its clamp at the housing before you fill the cooling system.
