Chevrolet Metro Hood Cable Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Hood Cable for the Primary Latch Release on Chevrolet Metro?
A: Starting the hood primary latch cable replacement requires removal of the Hood Latch. Support the vehicle properly and rise it to the desired height. The process begins by removing the left front wheel assembly and tire. The left front wheelhouse panel requires removal by removing screws 4 and 6 and three retainers. The left side of the instrument panel requires removal of a Hood Cable handle and two screws. Hook the Hood Cable to a mechanic's wire that will help during Hood Latch removal and replacement procedures. The mechanic must pull the brand-new cable from the vehicle before placing the mechanic's wire into position for future cable work. To install the Hood Cable you need to attach the mechanic's wire to the new Hood Cable then put them into position inside the vehicle. Reposition the mechanic's wire from the Hood Cable after putting it into position. Place the Hood Cable handle on the instrument panel and fasten it with one screw. The left front wheelhouse panel gets reinstalled with 6 screws (4, 6) and 3 retainers before placing back the left front tire and wheel assembly. Complete the process by lowering the vehicle while installing the Hood Latch.
