In order to service the Oil Pan, disconnect the negative
Battery Cable and raise the vehicle, making sure that it's well supported. Put a drain pan under the engine Oil Pan to collect any escaping oil before you pull off the engine Oil Pan Drain Plug to allow for the draining of oils next remove the
Crankshaft Position Sensor and one bolt and then remove the fourteen engine Oil Pan bolts, two nuts and engine Oil Pan. After that, remove the oil pump strainer bracket bolt, oil pump strainer bolt, and oil pump strainer, then take out the oil pump strainer seal. Cleans the inside of the engine Oil Pan and the oil pump strainer screen and the mating surfaces of the engine Oil Pan and the cylinder block. For installation, fix the oil pump strainer with a brand-new oil pump strainer seal on the cylinder block, tightened with the oil pump strainer bolt, and oil pump strainer bracket bolt of 11 nm (97 inch lbs.). Run a sequential ribbon of gm p/n 12346240 or equivalent along the drawn mating surface of the engine Oil Pan, inset it into position on the cylinder block with two nuts and fourteen bolts sealing it and tightened to 11 nm (97 inch lbs.). Reinstall the Crankshaft Position Sensor, followed by new gasket and the engine oil Drain Plug; tighten the Drain Plug to 35 nm(26 ft. Lbs.). Lower the vehicle and refill the engine oil per specifications, reconnect the negative Battery Cable, start the engine and exam the exhaust system for leaks as you check the oil pressure.
