To service and repair the Steering Wheel the following tools will be needed: Steering Wheel puller (J 1859-A). First, disable the sir system and have the front tires in the straight-ahead position. Remove the tuning nut of Steering Wheel and the steering module of the inflatable restraint. With the paint, mark out the alignment of the Steering Wheel and the Steering Shaft as a guide to the install. Mount the Steering Wheel puller (J 1859-A) on the Steering Wheel and pull the Steering Wheel off from the Steering Shaft. During the installation, if necessary, center the sir coil since the front tires should be remaining at the straight-ahead position. If replacing the Steering Wheel, transfer the mark of alignment from the old wheel to the new one. Mount the Steering Wheel to the Steering Shaft, so that the sir coil's two tabs match the two slots of the Steering Wheel mounting surface, and the marks on Steering Wheel and Steering Shaft line up. Once confirmed the alignment, install the nut to hold the Steering Wheel to the Steering Shaft and tighten it up to 33 nm (24 ft. Lbs.). Last but not least, install the inflatable restraint Steering Wheel module, and activate the sir system.
