Chevrolet Prizm Release Bearing Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the clutch release bearing on Chevrolet Prizm?
    A:
After manual transaxle extraction from the vehicle you must simultaneously remove the clutch Release Bearing alongside the clutch release fork before proceeding. Strip the clutch Release Bearing from its position on the clutch release fork before using a clean dry solvent-free cloth to clean it. Check the clutch Release Bearing for foreign marks while confirming it rotates without restrictions; replace the clutch Release Bearing when external damage is present or when the bearing operates with any kind of smoothness problem. The clutch Release Bearing installation requires a thin layer of wheel bearing grease (GM P/N 1051344 or equivalent) which must be applied before attaching it to the clutch release fork. Install the clutch Release Bearing and clutch release fork assembly onto the transaxle assembly then reinstall the transaxle assembly into the vehicle as your final step.
