Chevrolet Silverado 1500 ABS Control Module Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the ABS Control Module on Chevrolet Silverado 1500?
A: The first step for ABS Control Module replacement begins with disconnecting the negative Battery Cable then lifting the vehicle high enough for proper access. Measurements of the electronic hydraulic control unit (EHCU) must happen in a clean space to stop damage from entering abs system components. The chassis electrical connectors should be separated from the ABS Control Module before removing its mounting screws for securing it to the brake pressure modulator valve (BPMV). Close attention should be given during ABS Control Module removal from bpmv since forcing or instrument usage can harm the ABS Control Module. All activities necessary for replacing the ABS Control Module start with disconnecting the bpmv electrical connector from the ABS Control Module while cleaning the mounting surfaces. Install the new ABS Control Module after connecting the bpmv electrical connector and mounting it onto the bpmv. The ABS Control Module gets its security through new screws which must be fastened to 5 nm (39 inch lbs.) torque while following an x-pattern sequence. Reconnect all electrical chassis links to the ABS Control Module before you lower the vehicle and reattach the negative Battery Cable. The tire size calibration process should be performed with the scan tool tire size calibration function followed by navigating back to the diagnostic starting point for the antilock brake system.
