The process to replace the Inflatable Restraint Side Impact Sensor needs a disablement of the SIR system as the first step. Start by removing the front door trim panel and gently loosening the two fasteners that secure the inflatable restraint side impact sensor. Remove the inflatable restraint side impact sensor from the door before disconnecting its connector position assurance (CPA) and inflatable restraint side impact sensor yellow 2-way harness connector . During installation begin by linking the inflatable restraint side impact sensor with the yellow 2-way harness connector while installing the CPA to the connector. Reinstall the inflatable restraint side impact sensor into the door while using hand tools to tighten the fasteners to 10 N.m (89 lb in). Insert the door trim panel then turn on the SIR system.
