How to replace the A/C Accumulator in a system on Chevrolet Suburban 1500?

The refrigerant recovery process must start first before performing accumulator replacement. You start by removing the Evaporator tube nut from the Evaporator and its corresponding tube. Follow by removing the Evaporator tube nut before disconnecting the electrical connector from the a/c low pressure switch. Once the compressor hose opens up pressurized air will escape through an appropriate receptacle. Drain the nut from both the Evaporator fitting and the accumulator bracket from its retaining stud before you remove the accumulator. Detach the retaining bracket bolt and retaining bracket from the accumulator then throw away the o-ring seals. Installation requires new o-ring seals and additional refrigerant oil added to the condenser when replacing the accumulator. Secure the retaining bracket bolt against the accumulator through the retaining bracket to a torque of 10 n.m (89 lb in). Position the accumulator and apply the accumulator bracket nut ensuring this connection reaches 9 n.m (80 lb in) of torque. Install the nut to the Evaporator fitting first and tighten it to 16 n.m (12 lb ft). Then attach the compressor hose to the accumulator and fasten the compressor hose nut with another 16 n.m (12 lb ft) torque value. Tighten the Evaporator tube nut to 25 n.m (18 lb ft) after connecting the electrical connector to the a/c low pressure switch. Install the Evaporator tube between the Evaporator followed by the Evaporator tube nut with torque setting at 16 n.m (12 lb ft). System evacuation and recharging must follow a leak test using the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A) for component fittings.
