Chevrolet Suburban 1500 Power Steering Pump Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the power steering pump on Chevrolet Suburban 1500?
A:
As a first step to replace a power steering pump you should put a drain pan under it then detach the power steering pulley. The first step involves disconnecting hoses from the pump then taking off bolts from its front section before taking off the four rear nuts. Remove the pump from the vehicle after taking away all components. Position the new pump in its installation place then secure it through tightening its front bolts up to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.). Fasten the rear nuts with the same torque of 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.). Fasten the pump hoses back in place after securing their nut to 28 Nm (20 ft. lbs.) before reinstalling the power steering pulley. The power steering system needs to receive a fill-up before a bleeding procedure to finalize the install process.
