Power Steering Pump

Start by detaching the power steering pulley before raising the vehicle. You need to first extract the power steering pulley and then apply a drain pan under the vehicle. The power steering pressure hose needs disconnecting from the pump while parking under the vehicle prior to lowering it. Through clamp removal (3,5), detach the power steering return hoses from the pump and extract them. First remove the lower intermediate shaft from the steering gear and then detach the bolt retaining the rear bracket to the engine before finishing by unplugging the pump from the vehicle. The bracket must be removed from the rear side of the pump assembly. To install the bracket you must mount it behind the pump while tightening rear bracket retaining nuts to reach 50 n.m (37 lb ft). Mount the Power Steering Pump in position before fastening the bolts to the front of the pump while tightening them to 50 n.m (37 lb ft). Reestablish Power Steering Pump return hoses (2 and 4) by using their retaining clamps. Secure the power steering pressure hose to the pump by tightening its nut to 28 n.m (20 lb ft). The vehicle owner should reinstall the oil pan skid plate and fasten it with bolts while tightening them to 20 n.m (15 lb ft). After lowering the vehicle workers must reinstall the intermediate shaft alongside the power steering pulley before filling and bleeding the power steering system.

One must begin Power Steering Pump replacement for the 4.8l, 5.3l, 6.0l engines by first removing the power steering pulley followed by correctly raising the vehicle. Begin by unscrewing the oil pan skid plate bolts along with the skid plate when present. Position a drain pan neatly below the area. The power steering pressure hose needs detachment from the pump so users can lower the vehicle before removing the clamps (3,5) securing the power steering return hoses to the pump. Begin by removing the lower intermediate shaft from steering gear and the rear engine bracket bolt and then removing front pump bolts before removing the pump from your vehicle to detach its bracket from the pump rear. The installation process starts with attaching this bracket to the rear side of the pump followed by tightening rear bracket retaining nuts to 50 nm (37 ft. Lbs.). Secure the Power Steering Pump by attaching and tightening the rear bracket to the engine using a 50 nm (37 ft. Lbs.) bolt as well as front bolts to 50 nm (37 ft. Lbs.). Connect the Power Steering Pump return hoses (2,4) and place retaining clamps on top of them before raising the vehicle and attaching the power steering pressure hose to the pump with 28 nm (20 ft. Lbs.) torque. This procedure requires reinstalling the oil pan skid plate followed by securing its bolts to 20 nm (15 ft. Lbs.) and lowering the vehicle for power steering intermediate shaft along with power steering pulley installation followed by filling and bleeding the power steering system.
