How to replace the ignition lock cylinder on Chevrolet Trailblazer?

The replacement process for the ignition switch lock cylinder begins with disconnecting the negative Battery Cable and disabling the sir system. Start by lowering the hush and knee bolster before removing the steering column trim covers. To extract the lock cylinder you need to put a key in run position then insert an allen wrench into the housing hole and push to unlock the tab which lets the lock cylinder slide out. The key needs to enter the lock cylinder while alignment between the ignition switch and lock cylinder housing gears is checked to stop no start and battery drain. Tighten the lock cylinder housing gear clockwise with a screwdriver until it reaches the start position before it automatically rebounds back to run. Put the lock cylinder into position in its housing while completing the installation by returning the steering column trim covers and hush and knee bolster. To finish the procedure turn on the sir system and reconnect the negative Battery Cable.
