Chevrolet Trailblazer Power Steering Reservoir Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Power Steering Reservoir for the CB Series on Chevrolet Trailblazer?
A: Strategies for changing the power steering reservoir off the vehicle for the CB Series start with placing the hydraulic pump on a stable flat surface with its shaft pointed upward. A screwdriver should be used to push the retaining clip tab into an open position while the reservoir clip needs to move away from the hydraulic pump assembly. Seal retention is done twice on the reservoir clip until removal of the reservoir from the hydraulic pump housing . Discard the O-ring seal which should be removed from both the reservoir neck portion and from the hydraulic pump housing. Before installation of the new O-ring seal into the reservoir neck apply steering fluid for lubrication purposes. Then place the O-ring seal onto the reservoir neck. After that position the reservoir onto the hydraulic pump assembly with complete insertion of the reservoir neck. Mount the reservoir feet along the sides of the hydraulic pump housing before inserting the provided reservoir retaining clips so their tabs properly match up with the pump housing.
