Chevrolet Uplander Coolant Pipe Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the engine crossover coolant pipe on Chevrolet Uplander?
A: To replace this engine coolant crossover pipe, start off by taking off the intake manifold cover, the generator, together with the drive belt idler pulleys, as well as the Power Steering Pump. Remove/reposition the coolant recovery inlet hose clamp at the coolant crossover and remove the coolant recovery inlet hose. Release the tension in the hose clamp at the coolant crossover using hose clamp plier (J 38185) and, subsequently, pull of the radiator inlet hose from the crossover pipe and the thermal bypass hose. Next, remove the bolt of the coolant crossover pipe (1-4) and pull out the coolant crossover pipe. For installation, mount the new coolant crossover pipe onto the cylinder heads and tighten the coolant crossover pipe bolts (1-4) at 50 n.m (37 lb ft). Reattach the thermal bypass hose and the corresponding clamp along with the radiating inlet hose. With a small flat-bladed screwdriver, unlock the hose clamp retention lock at the coolant crossover, then attach the coolant recovery reservoir inlet hose and clamp in position. Lastly, you have to reinstall the Power Steering Pump, drive belt idler pulleys, generator, and intake manifold cover.
