The first step when installing a new liftgate emblem is to cover the mounting area with tape and mark surface alignment using additional tape. Warm the emblem/nameplate with J 25070 Heat Gun at 152 mm (6 in) distance for 30 seconds while rotating the tool in a circular pattern. Use a plastic flatblade tool to properly take off the emblem/nameplate. You can use a 3M(TM) Scotch Brite molding adhesive remover disk (3M(TM) P/N 07501) for body panels and a lint-free cloth with VMP naphtha mixture or 50/50 isopropyl alcohol and water for plastic panels. Wipe the installation area with the same cloth and solvent mixture before completely drying it. Place tape at the chosen installation site if there are no markings present. Affix the CHEVROLET, VENTURE, PONTIAC VERSATRAK AWD, WB, THUNDER, OLDSMOBILE, and SILHOUETTE emblems/nameplates in their correct dimensions when the surface temperature reaches 27-41°C (80-105°F) during J 25070 Heat Gun (J 25070) use and keep the emblem/nameplate temperature at 29-32°C (85-90°F). Put the emblem/nameplate onto its required placement while matching its marks and apply force to get a solid bond. After that put the emblem/nameplate on by pressing it evenly into the attachment spot.
