Chevrolet Venture Steering Shaft Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the intermediate steering shaft on Chevrolet Venture?
    A:
The replacement of an intermediate Steering Shaft requires a straight steering wheel position alongside locked Steering Column because this prevents improper sir coil assembly alignment and damage during the process. Start by lifting up the vehicle before moving the intermediate Steering Shaft seal into place. Unfasten the lower pinch bolt from the power steering gear stub shaft and then remove the intermediate Steering Shaft. The knee bolster from the left side needs removal before lowering the vehicle. After moving the intermediate Steering Shaft seal into position you can access the upper pinch bolt to remove it and disconnect the intermediate Steering Shaft from the Steering Column. Position the intermediate Steering Shaft before installing the upper pinch bolt at the Steering Column using a torque of 48 nm (35 ft. Lbs.). Insert the intermediate Steering Shaft seal onto the Steering Column and reposition the vehicle while maintaining support. Then secure the intermediate Steering Shaft to the power steering gear stub shaft. The power steering gear stub shaft gets its lower pinch bolt installed after torquing it to 48 nm (35 ft. Lbs.). The intermediate Steering Shaft seal should then be mounted onto the power steering gear. Reinstall the left knee bolster after the vehicle has reached floor level.
