The first step for exhaust manifold (L52) replacement involves protective goggles and gloves as safety precautions. The first step requires removal of the exhaust seal while also removing the exhaust manifold heat shield. Proceed to detach the retaining bolts from the exhaust manifold before you remove the manifold alongside the gasket which needs to be discarded due to its aged condition. Check the exhaust manifold then perform an inspection before you start mounting it. Position a brand new exhaust manifold gasket onto the cylinder head before setting the exhaust manifold properly. The threads of the exhaust manifold bolts require GM threadlocker P/N 12345493 (Canadian P/N 10953488) before bolt installation. First apply threadlock GM P/N 12345493 (Canadian P/N 10953488) to the exhaust manifold bolts and then tighten them in sequence to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.) for each bolt. The last step entails fastening the exhaust manifold heat shield followed by installing the exhaust seal.
