GMC Safari Motor And Transmission Mount Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the rear Motor and Transmission Mount on GMC Safari?
A: Start by properly supporting the vehicle before you start the rear transmission mount replacement. Start by using a transmission jack to maintain transmission support before removing the transmission mount retaining nuts. Once you raise the transmission you can remove the mounting bolts securing the transmission mount to both the transmission and the transfer case adapter. Lift the transmission slightly but not too high to remove the transmission mount before extracting it from the vehicle. Correctly install your new transmission mount by positioning it at the adapter mounting bolts which attach to the transmission or transfer case. For rwd vehicles, tighten the bolts to 61 nm (45 ft. Lbs.)the mounting bolts for rwd vehicles require a torque of 61 nm (45 ft. Lbs.) while awd vehicles require 85 nm (63 ft. Lbs.). Next, install the transmission mount to the transmission support retaining nut or nuts while torquing them to 45 nm (33 ft. Lbs.). Finish the process by removing the transmission jack and lowering the vehicle down.
