Q: How to replace the rear wheel speed sensor on a 10.5 axle on GMC Savana 1500?
A: Start work on replacing the rear Wheel Speed Sensor of a 10.5 axle by raising the vehicle. Unbolt the leaf spring anchor plate from the left rear position before disconnecting the electrical connector. First take out the Wheel Speed Sensor retaining bolt and then remove the Wheel Speed Sensor plus its spacer block. Use a socket wrench to attach the Wheel Speed Sensor to the spacer block first. Then fasten the retaining bolt at 14 nm (124 lb in). Connect the electrical connection and put the leaf spring anchor plate back into its position on the left rear sensor. Start the engine at idle and observe if abs or traction assist indicator lights remain on during this procedure to ensure the system functions correctly. Do not operate the car until experts solve the issue when one or more indicator lights stay lit on. Check the Wheel Speed Sensor electrical connection for damage and improper placement first. Examine the vehicle when the indicator persists so you can find issues specific to the antilock brake system. Take the vehicle on a 16 km/h (10 mph) road for 5 seconds followed by a stop to check if either abs or traction assist lights show up. Examine the antilock brake system diagnostic starting point when you see any indicator light.
