First remove the Idle Control Valve assembly with its attached o-ring. Use carburetor cleaner and a parts cleaning brush to remove carbon dust from surfaces on the Idle Control Valve o-ring sealing area as well as from the pintle valve seat and air passage. These cleaning steps require avoidance of methyl ethyl ketone solutions. Heavy deposits within the air passage require removal of the Throttle Body for satisfactory cleaning procedures. The installing process for new idle control valves requires the use of identical parts because each application depends on specific pintle dimensions and shapes. The Idle Control Valve pintle should be checked for position a against the mounting flange; use just finger pressure to carefully retract the valve pintle if it exceeds 28 mm.
