How to replace the A/C Orifice Tube on GMC Sierra 1500?

Begin a replacement of the A/C orifice tube by recovering all refrigerant first. You need to loosen the evaporator tube fitting nut before you can take out the A/C orifice tube using the Orifice Tube Remover (J 26549-E). Cap or plug the open line. Installation begins with uncapping the evaporator tube after which you should use new 525 viscosity refrigerant oil to lubricate the new O-ring before fitting it into place. The short screen portion of the new A/C orifice tube needs to receive 525 viscosity refrigerant oil before insertion into the evaporator tube. Install the evaporator tube into its fitting before securing it with 25 N.m of torque (18 lb ft). The system evacuation and recharging process should be followed by fitting leak tests using a Halogen Leak Detector (J 39400-A).
