Start by checking for the installation of the anti-rotation pin (J 42640) or the lock condition of the ignition switch. Next, disconnect any needed electrical connectors and remove the Steering Wheel and the Steering Column shroud examining the coil of the air bag clock spring for a retaining ring then remove the retaining ring and discard. Unfasten the coil in the
Steering Shaft and, if it is so, dispose of the old coil. For installation: make sure the new sir coil assembly is centred and do not pull the parting tab until installation is done. Water jacket flange: align the new air bag clock spring with the horn tower on the turn signal switch cancel cam and slip the coil on the Steering Shaft and secure the new retaining ring in the groove of the Steering Shaft. Once you take off the centering tab from the new coil, you might connect all relevant electrical connectors and then reinstall the Steering Column shroud and the Steering Wheel, and only then take off the anti-rotation pin (J 42640).
