Q: How to replace the engine oil pressure switch on GMC Sierra 3500 Classic?
A: To change the engine oil pressure sensor/switch, it is required the tool, which is the Oil Pressure Switch socket (J 41712). First, remove the Intake Manifold and then disconnect the engine harness electric connector from the oil pressure sensor. In case the vehicle is not equipped with the active fuel management, apply the adapter: Oil Pressure Switch socket (J 41712), and remove the oil pressure sensor (706) and washer (707). For the vehicles with active fuel management, do the same removal using the same socket. For installation, till the threads of the new oil pressure sensor for sealant. If the vehicle ha an active fuel management, then install the oil pressure sensor (706) and washer (707) using the Oil Pressure Switch socket (J41712), applying the torque of 35 n.m (26lb ft) to the sensor. If not equipped with active fuel management, then procedure the same for installation. Lastly, reconnect the engine harness electrical connector to the oil pressure sensor and tighten it to 35 n.m (26 lb ft) before reinstallation of the Intake Manifold.
