The process begins by removing the oil fill cap from the hood before you can start draining engine oil and replacing its filter. Place an oil drain pan beneath the Oil Pan Drain Plug then raise and support the vehicle. After removing the Oil Pan Drain Plug (430) all oil needs to drain thoroughly before reinstallation. The maintenance process requires inspection of the Oil Pan Drain Plug together with cleaning operations. A new Drain Plug installation is needed if necessary along with cleaning of the Oil Pan sealing surface followed by Oil Pan replacement if required. After draining oil wipe the plug hole with a clean towel then reinstall the plug at its proper torque value. Place your drain pan under the Oil Filter for removal then pull out the Oil Filter keeping the gasket attached to the filter; after inspecting the gasket carefully look for replacement of the filter itself. Apply clean engine oil to the new Oil Filter seal before installing the new Oil Filter and torque it to 30 n.m (22 lb ft). After tightening the Oil Pan Drain Plug to 25 n.m (18 lb ft) you must remove the oil drain container beneath the vehicle before lowering it. Check the engine oil level after removing the oil level indicator from its tube when the tip remains directed downwards.
