To service the EGR Valve; first, do not disassemble the same because it should only be serviced as a complete assembly. Pay close attention to the location of the EGR valve before its removal, making sure that it is not rotated by 180 degrees. Start by unplugging the EGR electrical connector and removing the valve to flange attaching fasteners. One should ensure that the EGR valve is not soaked in any liquid cleaner or solvent, as this could cause it to weak. Next, take out the EGR valve and the flange gasket and clean the surface of the later. For installation, install a new flange gasket and install the EGR valve. After the Fastener Notice in Service Precautions, install the valve to flange fasteners, turning each initial to 10 N.m (89 lb in) each, and then final to 25 N.m (18 lb ft) each. Finally, reconnect the electrical connector.
