    Q:
How to service and repair the front lower control arm on GMC C2500? Posted by Customer
    A:
To start working on the front lower Control Arm, you should raise and support the vehicle. Get rid of the tire and wheel assembly. If the car has it, remove the link rod between the sensor and real time damping (RTD) system from the sensor. Then, disconnect the shock absorber, the front stabilizer shaft link and the front coil spring. Following that, undo the nuts and washers for the lower Control Arm on cars that have a 15 series lower Control Arm (15 Series) and remove the lower Control Arm bolts on all vehicles. After that, take out the lower Control Arm nuts and washers (for the 25 Series) and the lower Control Arm bolts (25 Series only). Take out the stud nut from the lower ball joint and unhook the ball joint stud from the Steering Knuckle using (J 43631). When you have removed the driver's lower Control Arm, insert the new lower Control Arm and connect the ball joint stud to the Steering Knuckle, also making sure to put on and tighten the nut to 100 nm (74 ft. Lbs.). First, fix the front coil spring, then install and tighten the Control Arm bolts (15 Series) and finish the assembly by tightening the Control Arm nuts and washers (15 Series) to 145 nm (107 ft. Lbs.). Place the lower Control Arm Bolt (25 Series) and the lower Control Arm nuts and washers (25 Series) and screw them on with a torque of 145 nm (107 ft. Lbs.). Install the front stabilizer shaft link again and put on the shock absorber before you install the tire and wheel assembly. In the end, take out the safety stands, lower the vehicle and inspect the wheel alignment.
