Idler Arm

The first procedure for replacing the idler arm starts with removing the engine shield followed by discarding the idler arm nut. First loosen the idler arm nut off the idler arm . Then detach the idler arm from the relay rod using puller (J 24319-B). Start by removing bolts from idler arm components at the frame of the vehicle until the idler arm component can be extracted from the vehicle. Position the new idler arm to the vehicle frame before installing its bolts and nuts to a torque setting of 105 Nm (78 lb ft). Place the idler arm onto the relay rod then secure a new idler arm nut onto the idler arm by torquing it to 62 Nm (46 lb ft). The last step involves installing the engine shield if present while performing front toe adjustment procedures.

Begin idler arm replacement by removing any engine shield present on the vehicle. The specialist should discard the idler arm nut before taking the idler arm nut off its position on the idler arm . The idler arm separation from the relay rod should be done with puller (J 24319-B). Start by disassembling the idler arm bolts which connect to the vehicle frame while also taking away the nuts before removing the idler arm. Follow the fastener precautions when you mount the idler arm to the vehicle frame. Fasten the idler arm bolts and nuts to the frame while torquing them to 105 Nm (78 lb ft). Mount the idler arm onto the relay rod and fasten it with a new idler arm nut that requires tightening to 46 lb ft (62 Nm). Reinstall the engine shield only if you have one before performing front toe adjustments.
