The process to remove the Shift Cable starts with setting the steering column shift lever to park and then elevating the vehicle. The new e-clip needs installation onto the Shift Cable end but only after setting the steering column shift lever properly in the park position. Disconnect the cable terminal end fitting near the transmission manual shaft ball stud and discard the e-clip that you remove. Begin installation by setting both the steering column shift lever and transmission manual shaft lever to park position while you will then install two clips on the Shift Cable to the floor panel reinforcement before passing the Shift Cable through floor panel holes and install the grommet. South the vehicle while you attach the Shift Cable conduit end fitting to the steering column bracket where it needs to seat the tangs completely. Hook the Shift Cable terminal shaft end to the steering column ball stud before attaching it with the designated retainer. The installation of Shift Cable at support requires tightening bolt to a torque value of 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). The next procedure includes returning the carpet and insulation and the driver's seat along with the steering column shroud. Raise the car again then use one hand to hold the transmission cable front section and the second hand to hold the back section before aligning them before pushing the rear cable end into the front cable until you reach full compression of the blue spring. After releasing the rear cable end the blue spring will adjust the system automatically while you draw back the white cover to reach the natural colored lock button for engaging the locking teeth. Carefully check whether the white cover successfully covers the lock. If it does not, you must go back and repeat the required steps. The final step includes lowering the vehicle for transmission shift operation testing as well as cable adjustment if you need to achieve all gear positions.

First remove the transmission manual shaft ball stud cable terminal end fitting before discarding the e-clip. A pre-installed e-clip ships with the front portion of the Shift Cable. Installation requires the following sequence: set the parking positions for steering column shift lever and transmission manual shaft lever then connect the Shift Cable clips to floor panel reinforcement followed by passing the Shift Cable through the floor panel hole before adding the grommet. Spend time lowering the vehicle so you can connect the conduit end fitting to its bracket on the steering column while making sure tangs completely lock into position. Secure the Shift Cable terminal shaft end to the steering column ball stud with its retainer. Lay the Shift Cable onto the support then secure the bolt to 10 nm (89 inch lbs.) tension before putting back the carpet and insulation and driver's seat and steering column shroud. Raise the vehicle one last time to push the end of cable into cable while using the left hand to hold the front half and the right hand to hold the rear half. Align cable diameters before fully compressing the blue spring. Allow cable to release so the blue spring tightens the system. Next, pull back the white cover on cable while pushing the natural colored lock button to set the locking teeth. A successful check on the lock involves ensuring the white cover properly hides the lock. Perform the necessary steps again if necessary. Testing the transmission's operation occurs after lowering the vehicle while adjusting the Shift Cable if the desired gear positions remain unattainable.
