Lower Control Arm Bushing

Begin the rear axle lower Control Arm bushing replacement by supporting the vehicle above the floor then remove both wheels along with their respective tires. You need to use a utility stand for supporting the lower Control Arm before removing the coil spring. Note a mark on the lower Control Arm at its cam indicator position before you detach mounting bolts between the lower Control Arm and crossmember (1, 5). The orientation of voids within the bushing relative to the crossmember must be recognized before moving the bushing out from its position in the crossmember. The Control Arm bushing set (J 21474-01) comes equipped with the following tools for this process: j-6627-4 , lower Control Arm bushing receiver (J 45411) along with j-21474-8 and j-21474-4 . The necessary tools include j-6627-4 , lower Control Arm bushing receiver (J 45411) , j-21474-8 , and j-21474-4 . When installing the bushing place it in an identical position as before while maintaining proper alignment of voids. The Control Arm bushing set (J 21474-01) guides the bushing installation on the crossmember which is followed by reinstallation of the lower Control Arm backed by mounting bolts (1, 5) with the lower Control Arm mark positioned at the cam indicator. Complete the coil spring installation next then reinstall both tire and wheel assemblies. After inspecting the rear camber and toe angles perform any necessary adjustments before lowering the vehicle.

First, to replace the Control Arm bushing in the rear suspension, one should raise and support the vehicle. Apply a gesture where you support the Control Arm in front of the coil spring using a utility stand, then take off the bolts of the Control Arm from the rear axle. Drop the rear axle using the utility stand to get access to the Control Arm bushing, placing a mark indicating its orientation in the lower Control Arm. Make use of the j 28685 rear suspension bushing remover/installer and the j 9519-e ball joint remover/installer kit in dislodging the Control Arm bushing. For installation, set the flat edge of the new bushing to be 90 deg to the fluid axis which is 9 deg from the center line of Control Arm. Again, using j 28685 and the j 9519-e install the Control Arm bushing that extends 30mm (1.18in) from the Control Arm. Disassemble the tools and install the lower control arm.

Use a utility stand to support the control arm forward of the coil spring.

Lower the rear axle with the utility stand to access the control arm bushing.

Reinstall the lower control arm and mounting bolts (1, 5) to the crossmember, aligning the mark on the lower control arm at the cam indicator.

Tighten the bushing tool (J21474-4) until the bushing is removed from the control arm, then disassemble the tools.

Disassemble the bushing tools.

Use the following tools from the Control Arm Bushing Set (J 21474-01): J-6627-4, Lower Control Arm Bushing Receiver (J 45411), J-21474-8, and J-21474-4.

Apply J 23444-A to the threads of the Puller Bolt Thrust Bearing (J 21474-27).

Puller Bolt Thrust Bearing (J 21474-27), Control Arm Bushing Installer (J 21474), Sprocket Bearing Remover (J 34126), Front Knuckle Support (J 35379), Bushing Installer Remover (J 21474-2), and 1/2 Inch Nut (J 21474-4).

First raise and support the vehicle.

First, remove the lower control arm, ensuring to identify the orientation of the voids in the bushing relative to the crossmember.

Use the Control Arm Bushing Set (J 21474-O1) to install the bushing to the crossmember before reinstalling the lower control arm.

Use the Control Arm Bushing Set (J 21474-01) to install the bushing to the crossmember.

Puller Bolt (J 21474-27), Control Arm Bushing Installer (J 21474), Driven Sprocket Support Bearing Installer (J 34126), Front Knuckle Support (J 35379), Bushing Installer (J 21474-2), and Nut (J 21474-4).

The J 28685 Rear Suspension Bushing Remover/Installer and the J 9519-E Ball Joint Remover/Installer Kit are required.
