Check that each capsule on the Steering Column bracket assembly stays firmly inside its bracket slots while inspecting for loose conditions through manual touch tests. The maintenance procedure requires metal bracket replacement but only the bolted bracket if the attachment capsules remain secure otherwise replace the jacket assembly if the bracket is welded to it. A valid jacket assembly replacement is required when measurements between the lower edge of upper jacket and specified lower jacket point exceed set limits. You need to check both tab breakage on bearing and adapter assembly components together with a visual inspection of the Steering Shaft for sheared plastic material and change the Steering Shaft if shattering occurs. The dial indicator should measure runout of the Steering Shaft at its lower end while turning the steering wheel and the total runout must be under 1.60 mm (0.06 inch).
