    Q:
How to replace the A/C Condenser in the HVAC system on Buick Terraza? Posted by Customer
    A:
The condenser replacement process starts with Radiator removal followed by the A/C Condenser removal. Rearranging the receiver dehydrator becomes necessary in certain cases. When installing start by placing the receiver dehydrator if you took it out during the process. An installer must pour the prescribed polyalkylene glycol (PAG) oil to the condenser at the time of replacement. After installation of the A/C Condenser proceed with installing the Radiator. Evacuate the a/c system while performing a recharge before conducting a leak test on fittings with the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A).

    Q:
How to replace the A/C Condenser in the HVAC system on Buick Rendezvous? Posted by Customer
    A:
The replacement of the hvac system condenser begins with refrigerant retrieval from the a/c system followed by draining the cooling system. Both cooling fans and the cooling Fan Shroud should be removed. Using hose clamp pliers (J38185) you should reposition the Radiator outlet hose clamp located at the water pump housing before disconnecting the hose from the pump housing. Use hose clamp pliers (J38185) to move the Radiator outlet hose clamp at the Radiator before detaching the hose from the Radiator for removal. Disconnect the lower toc line from the Radiator while removing the a/c discharge hose nut from the condenser block but immediately cap and tape off exposed a/c refrigerant components to stop contamination. Cap or tape off the a/c discharge hose and unscrew the evaporator inlet tube bolt from the condenser block and disconnect the evaporator inlet tube from the condenser block before capping or taping off the evaporator inlet tube. Please detach the Radiator while removing the condenser assembly and then remove the condenser tube clip bolt and clip. Move the condenser mounting bolts first before taking the condenser away from the Radiator. Begin the condenser and receiver dehydrator repair sequence by removing the receiver dehydrator upper bracket bolt and lower mounting bolts and disconnecting the receiver dehydrator from the condenser. Discard the sealing washers during this step. When installing a new condenser you must first apply the recommended pag amount directly to the component before installing fresh sealing washers to the receiver dehydrator before attachment to the condenser. The receiver dehydrator lower mounting bolts require 6 n.m (53 lb in) torque followed by tightening the upper bracket bolt to 6 n.m (53 lb in). Screw the condenser to the Radiator using condenser mounting bolts at 6 n.m (53 lb in) torque. Fasten the condenser tube clip together with its bolt then apply 2.5 n.m (22 lb in) torque before installing the Radiator and condenser assembly. After removing the tape or cap from the evaporator inlet tube begin fitting a new washer to its tube connection point before tube installation onto the condenser block while tightening the bolt to 16 n.m (12 lb ft). Start by removing tape from the a/c discharge hose then fit a new sealing washer to its fitting. Reconnect the hose and nut to the condenser block while tightening the nut to 16 n.m (12 lb ft). After connection of the lower toc line to the Radiator install the Radiator outlet hose for attachment to the Radiator. The hose clamp pliers (J38185) allows technicians to readjust the Radiator outlet hose clamp on the Radiator before connecting the hose to the water pump housing while using the same tool for final hose attachment. Reinstall the cooling fans together with the cooling Fan Shroud before filling the cooling system and performing a/c system evacuation and recharging then conducting a leak test of component fittings with the halogen leak detector j39400-a.
