The first step to install a new lap (2.2L) Catalytic Converter is to lift your vehicle onto a support device. The first step involves removing the wheel drive shaft heat shield and heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) after that. You must detach the Catalytic Converter from its connections to the resonator pipe and Exhaust Manifold after removing their responsible nuts to extract the Catalytic Converter. Remove the exhaust gaskets from the system before cleaning both mating surfaces free of remaining gasket material. You should install a new gasket on the resonator pipe studs before fastening the Catalytic Converter to the pipe using 30 nm (22 lb ft) torque. Place back both the (HO2S) and the wheel drive shaft heat shield into its proper position. An inspection of the entire exhaust system for leaks undergoes completion.

Discard the gasket during this process. When installing the Catalytic Converter apply a new gasket to Exhaust Manifold studs before mounting it to the Exhaust Manifold with torque settings at 46 n.m (34 lb ft). After the engine-specific post catalyst ho2s replacement you should reinstall the part while reconnecting the Muffler assembly to the Catalytic Converter then finish the installation by tightening the exhaust Muffler nuts to 46 n.m (34 lb ft). Lower the vehicle carefully with a 3-degree limit on all directional bends to protect the exhaust flex decoupler.
