The first step for Catalytic Converter (LE5, L61) (2.4L, 2.2L) replacement requires securely raising and supporting the vehicle. Start by taking off the exhaust Muffler nuts to make separating the Muffler assembly from the Catalytic Converter possible. Start by removing the post catalyst heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) which is dedicated to specific engine types before disconnecting the Catalytic Converter from the Exhaust Manifold by removing its nuts. Dispose of the gasket. During installation apply the Exhaust Manifold studs onto a new gasket before connecting the Catalytic Converter while maintaining exhaust flex decouplers within 3 degrees of any direction. Secure the Catalytic Converter through its nuts while maintaining 46 nm (34 lb ft) torque. The worker install the post catalyst ho2s following engine type procedure before attaching the Muffler assembly to the Catalytic Converter unit and finishes installation by tightening exhaust Muffler nuts to 46 nm (34 lb ft) torque specification before lowering the vehicle.
