    Q:
How to Service and Repair the Ignition Lock Cylinder on a Buick Terraza? Posted by Customer
    A:
Disabling the sir system and disconnecting the battery negative cable must occur prior to Ignition Lock Cylinder replacement. Begin by detaching the Steering Wheel and unfastening the lower Steering Column trim covers' retaining screw. Begin by pulling down the trim cover to unlock the tabs before sliding it backwards off the column and removing both lower Steering Column trim covers. Looking through the lock cylinder access hole becomes possible after you remove the retaining screws from the upper Steering Column trim cover then lift it into position. Use the snap-on a173a bent-tip awl to access the Ignition Lock Cylinder opening then rotate the cylinder to start position. A bent tip tool should push down on the Ignition Lock Cylinder retainer before releasing the Ignition Lock Cylinder to run position so it can extract from the lock cylinder case. During installation thread the Ignition Lock Cylinder through the trim cover on top of the Steering Column while aligning the retaining tab and position tab to lock housing slots before moving the lock cylinder all the way into place. Tighten the upper steering trim cover retaining screws to 3.5 n.m (31 lb in). Function the lower trim cover's tab slots against the upper trim cover's locking tabs before tilting the lower trim cover to lock the tabs inside the slots. Fasten the lower trim screws to the Steering Column before tightening them to 1.5 n.m (13 lb in) and installing the Steering Wheel. Turn on the sir system then connect the battery negative cable.

    Q:
How to replace the ignition lock cylinder on Buick Terraza? Posted by Customer
    A:
In order to replace the Ignition Lock Cylinder, disconnect the battery negative cable and disable the restraint system. Unscrew and pull off the Steering Wheel from the lower steering column trim covers, then fold the trim cover down and slide it backward to unlock the locking tabs, enabling the removal of the lower steering column trim covers. Next, unscrew the retaining screws on the upper steering column trim cover and lift it towards accessing the lock cylinder access hole. Tap the snap-on a173a bent-tip awl through the access hole of the Ignition Lock Cylinder and rotate the Ignition Lock Cylinder to start. Push down the retainer with the bent tip and allow the Ignition Lock Cylinder to the run position then withdraw it from the lock cylinder case. In install mode, have the Ignition Lock Cylinder pushed through the trim cover in the upper steering column with the lock cylinder retaining tab and position tab aligned with the slots in the lock housing. Then, push this entirely into the lock housing. Install the retaining screws to the upper steering trim cover and make sure that they are tightened down to 3.5 nm (31 inch lbs) to match the tab slots on the lower trim cover, match the tab slots on the lower trim cover with the locking tabs on the upper trim cover till tilts the lower trim cover up and slides it to make sure that the locking tabs snap into place. Add the lower trim cover screws to the steering column securing it on there with a force of 1.5 nm (13 in. Lbs.) then reattach the Steering Wheel, re-enable the restraint system, and the neg wire on the battery.

    Q:
How to replace the ignition lock cylinder on Chevrolet Uplander? Posted by Customer
    A:
The lock cylinder replacement process begins by disconnecting the battery negative cable. Turn off your sir system while you take out the Steering Wheel. To access the lower trim covers slide the retaining screw first then tilt the trim cover down before pushing it rearward until the locking tabs disengage. The lower trim covers can now be removed. Work to access the lock cylinder access hole by removing retaining screws from the upper steering column trim cover then lifting the cover. Stuff the snap-on a173a bent-tip awl through the access hole of the Ignition Lock Cylinder before you turn the cylinder to start. The bent tip should first apply pressure to push down the Ignition Lock Cylinder retainer. Once released the Ignition Lock Cylinder should be shifted to run before its removal from the lock cylinder case. Insert the new Ignition Lock Cylinder through the upper steering column trim while aligning its lock retaining tab and position tab with horizontal lock housing slots. Then push the lock cylinder fully into position. Secure the upper steering trim cover retaining screws using torque to 3.5 n.m (31 lb in). Put the lower trim cover's tab slots into position with the upper trim cover's locking tabs before tilting the lower trim cover upward and pushing it to let the locking tabs connect. Screw the lower trim cover to the steering column while applying 1.5 n.m (13 lb in) of torque and finally reinstall the Steering Wheel. To finish the installation process enable the sir system before connecting the battery negative cable.
