    Q:
How to service the exhaust manifold on Chevrolet K3500? Posted by Customer
    A:
The service of the Exhaust Manifold requires disconnecting the battery negative cable from the battery. First remove the engine block tubing with its oil level indicator component while simultaneously extracting the egr valve pipe from the left Exhaust Manifold. Service the Exhaust Manifold by first extracting the spark plugs from the Cylinder Head before raising the vehicle with safety stands installed. Unfasten the Exhaust Pipe from its mounting on the Exhaust Manifold. The service procedure for vehicles under 8600 lb gvwr requires completion of Catalytic Converter replacement (Gas, Below 8600 lb (GVWR)) but vehicles at and above 8600 lb gvwr need to use Catalytic Converter replacement (Gas, 8600 lb and Above). Lower the vehicle before removing both exhaust manifolds from each side and then remove the exhaust gasket connecting the Cylinder Head. The professional needs to clean the mating surfaces of the gasket while inspecting both the Cylinder Head and gasket surface. The installer must position the Exhaust Manifold Gasket with stamped 7.4 oriented toward the opposite side of the Cylinder Head. Candidates must install the Exhaust Manifold gaskets to the cylinder heads before mounting the left and right side exhaust manifolds. After installation of the left and right side heat shields for the spark plugs the maintenance worker will join the oil level indicator tube to the Exhaust Manifold and the spark plugs to the Cylinder Head. Using safety stands to sustain the vehicle, reinstall the exhaust pipes to the exhaust manifolds after raising it to that height. Vehicles below 8600 gvwr require the procedure from Catalytic Converter replacement (Gas, Below 8600 lb (GVWR)), while vehicles above 8600 lb gvwr need to use Catalytic Converter replacement (Gas, 8600 lb and Above). You should lower the vehicle and add the egr pipe to both the intake manifold and Exhaust Manifold before reattaching the battery negative cable to the battery.
