    Q:
How to replace the left exhaust manifold on a V8 and LHD on Cadillac SRX? Posted by Customer
    A:
The initial step to replace the left Exhaust Manifold of v8 lhd vehicles starts with air cleaner housing assembly removal. Take out the bolt securing the a/c lines from their position on the left-hand shock tower where you will position them to access the front bolt of the Exhaust Manifold shield. First detach the front upper heat shield bolt and disconnect the master cylinder electrical connector before taking out the master cylinder mounting nuts to move the cylinder against the engine for accessing the Exhaust Manifold shield rear bolt. First remove the rear upper heat shield bolt before disconnecting both bank 2 heated Oxygen Sensor pigtail connectors while taking out the power steering gear. Proceed to eliminate the lower intermediate Steering Shaft along with the exhaust system components. The technician should start by removing the bank 2 sensor 1 heated Oxygen Sensor and then proceed to separate the remaining Exhaust Manifold heat shield bolt before extracting the shield. Retrieve the left Exhaust Manifold bolts and nuts, discard the bolt parts then unscrew the Exhaust Manifold studs from service. The process requires left Exhaust Manifold removal together with its gasket where you should not use the existing gasket again. A thorough inspection of the left Exhaust Manifold should happen before installing the new Exhaust Manifold Gasket. Set the left Exhaust Manifold and gasket onto the left Cylinder Head before fixing left Exhaust Manifold studs, tightening them to 6 n.m (53 lb in) then turning nuts to 25 n.m (18 lb ft) and bolts to 25 n.m (18 lb ft). Install the Exhaust Manifold heat shield to the manifold by tightening its lower bolt to 10 n.m (89 lb in). After reinstalling the bank 2, sensor 1 heated Oxygen Sensor and the exhaust system and the lower intermediate Steering Shaft and power steering gear. It is necessary to connect heated Oxygen Sensor pigtail connectors before installing the rear upper heat shield bolt with a torque setting of 10 n.m (89 lb in). After connecting the master cylinder electrical connector you can restore the front upper heat shield bolt with final torque setting at 10 n.m (89 lb in). To complete installation you should attach the a/c lines to the left-shock tower using a nut and tighten it to 10 n.m (89 lb in) before reinstalling the air cleaner housing assembly.

    Q:
How to replace the left side exhaust manifold (LLT - Gas, 6 Cyl, 3.6L, Sidi, V6, Alum) on Cadillac STS? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first step for left side Exhaust Manifold (LLT - Gas, 6 Cyl, 3.6L, Sidi, V6, Alum) replacement requires removing the Exhaust Manifold heat shield. The replacement process begins by removing both the oil level indicator and Catalytic Converter nuts and Exhaust Manifold bolts. Old gaskets should be disposed during this step. After discarding the gasket from the Exhaust Manifold remove it and proceed to clean and inspect the Exhaust Manifold. The placement of the Catalytic Converter seal/heat shield requires an inspection for wear and damage before installation. New manifold gaskets should be applied first to the Exhaust Manifold before installing the new Catalytic Converter seal/heat shield onto the converter. Pipe the Exhaust Manifold alongside the gasket onto the Catalytic Converter and Cylinder Head after tightening its bolts at 20 n.m (15 lb ft). The Catalytic Converter nuts require installation followed by a tight torque of 50 n.m (37 lb-ft). The conclusion of the repair involves reinstalling both the oil level indicator and Exhaust Manifold heat shield.
