    Routine Muffler replacement for 4.8l and 5.3l engine vehicles requires initial steps using hose clamp pliers (J38185) to remove the spare tire wheel stowage lock cylinder and spare tire from the hoist. Start by taking both rear wheels and tires off. The vehicle requires rpo z55. Follow this with a sequence of connector disconnections beginning with right then left for electronic suspension rear position sensor and rear shock components on the chassis harness. Twist each link rod away from the ball stud while gently holding the sensor lever to disconnect the sensor to link rods from their sockets. Mount adjustable jack stands beneath the rear axle before taking away the rear axle vent hose together with its swivel clip from the brake crossover pipe. After lowering the rear axle slightly use proper tools to remove both lower bolts and nuts from the rear shock absorbers. You must remove the exhaust Muffler nuts before separating the Muffler from its insulators. Before installation apply lubricant to exhaust insulators then position the Muffler before fastening with exhaust Muffler nuts until they reach 40 nm (30 ft. Lbs.) torque. Set the adjustable jack stands to raise the rear axle before you install lower bolt and nut assemblies to the rear shock absorbers at 95 nm (70 ft. Lbs.). Follow these steps to complete the installation: first reinstall both vent hose pieces then put back the swivel clip. Rpo z55 owners must install left and right sensor link rods through the hose clamp pliers (J38185) in order to mount link rods onto sensor lever ball studs. Rejoin the electronic suspension rear position sensor and rear shock connectors present on each side of the chassis harness electrical assembly. Finish by reinstalling rear wheels and tires together with hoisting up the spare tire and attaching the wheel storage lock cylinder.
