The initial step to replace the intermediate pipe requires users to avoid excessive flexing or damage of the flex decoupler joint because this component has a flexing range of six degrees which provides 1-inch movement per foot of pipe length. Equivalent vehicles need service Muffler installations when their original welded exhaust system was present. Raising the vehicle allows you to support the 3-way Catalytic Converter. The intermediate pipe needs to be cut before removal from both the Muffler and 3-way Catalytic Converter along with the hanger. You need to remove the intermediate pipe then take the 3-way Catalytic Converter seal out of the flange surface while cleaning it. Secure the new 3-way Catalytic Converter seal first before connecting the intermediate pipe to the hanger then fastening the pipe to the 3-way Catalytic Converter bolts while tightening them to 34 nm (25 ft. Lbs.). Secure the Muffler to the intermediate pipe through a clamp before tightening it to 50 nm (37 ft. Lbs.). Finally, lower the vehicle.

Take out the exhaust crossover pipe heat shield bolts and then the heat shield itself.

Remove the three-way catalytic converter seal and clean the flange surface.

Connect the intermediate pipe to the three-way catalytic converter bolts, tightening them to 45 Nm (33 ft. lbs.).

Install the muffler to the hangers.
