Center Seat Belt, Front Driver Side

Inspection and repair of seat belts system should happen immediately after a collision to guarantee safety. Seat belts must be replaced whenever automatic restraint devices deploy because of the vehicle collision. Automatic restraint devices include air bags and seat belt pretensioners. The inspection process covers both adult passenger seat belts together with all components necessary for child safety including LATCH system and top tether anchorages. It is necessary to replace all seat belt system components which show evidence of damage or wear or have tears including adult seat belts, integrated child restraints and LATCH system parts. A seat belt system needs replacement when either "REPLACE" or "CAUTION" appears on a label or when a yellow sign is present but not because a child seat caution sign is visible. A seat belt system replacement becomes necessary when there exists any doubt about its condition as it requires replacement of all components for adult seat belts and built-in child restraints and LATCH systems. The whole seat belt system requires replacement starting with the buckle followed by the guide and retractor assembly and finishing with the latch while webbing material as an integrated replacement rather than component replacement. The requirement for replacement depends on whether parts reveal tears or wear or damage after minor collisions which did not activate automatic restraint devices.

Attach the lower seat belt anchor plate to the rear seat bolt and reinstall the rear seat assembly.

Take off the body side trim panel and guide the seat belt through the opening in the body side trim panel.

Take out the center rear seat belt assembly retaining nuts and remove the assembly from the vehicle.

First, fold the jump seat seat back down to access the seat belt.

First, remove the 2 bolts securing the rear seat bottom cushion to the floor.

Ensure to follow the Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Carefully pry open the upper seat belt anchor plate cover using a flat-bladed tool, then remove the bolt that secures the upper seat belt anchor plate.

First, fold the rear seats forward and lift the rear seat floor filler trim panels.

Start them by hand to ensure proper threading.

Remove the body side trim panel and guide the seat belt through the opening in the body side trim cover.

Tighten the retaining nuts to 80 N.m (59 lb ft).

Guide the seat belt through the opening in the body side trim cover, reinstall the body side trim panel, and firmly press the seat belt opening trim cover into place.
