Use a 45 TORX(R) socket to retain the strut shaft and the remove the strut mount nut with the strut rod nut socket (J 42991) (4). Attach the alignment rod (J 34013-197) to both direct the strut shaft out of the upper mount and loosen up the compressor screw as you guide the strut shaft out. For assembly, make sure strut mount faces the correct way, install the strut using the strut lower adapter, strut compressor upper adapter, and strut compressor into the strut compressor (J 34013-20). Place the spring, attach with the upper locking pin, and follow the strut shaft with the alignment rod (J 34013-197). Tighten the compressor screw clockwise until strut shaft threads become visible; attach the washer and nut before removing the strut compressor (J 34013-20) unit. Torque the strut mount nut to 85 nm (63 ft. Lbs.) with the strut rod nut socket (J 42991) while holding the strut shaft with a 45 torx(R) socket and pull off the strut from the compressor and re-install it into the vehicle.

Replace the alignment rod (J 34013-197) to direct the strut shaft in the upper mount while loosening compressor screw and pulling the strut shaft out. Inset the spring and push it up, replace the upper locking pin.
