    Q:
How to service and repair the Fuel Level Sensor on Chevrolet K3500? Posted by Customer
    A:
To perform operations on the Fuel Level Sensor start with the fuel pressure gauge (J 34730-1A) along with the fuel sender lock nut wrench (J 39765). As the first step disconnect the negative Battery Cable before draining the fuel system pressure. Service professionals should begin by draining the Fuel Tank along with removing both the tank and the Fuel Level Sensor assembly from the vehicle. You must remove the retaining clip of the Fuel Level Sensor electrical connector before disconnecting it from under the fuel sender cover. The Fuel Level Sensor retaining clip allows removal which lets you squeeze the locking fangs before taking out the Fuel Level Sensor itself. Begin by installing the Fuel Level Sensor together with its retaining clip followed by connecting the Fuel Level Sensor electrical connector with its retaining clip then establish a connection between the fuel pump electrical connector. Reinstallation must include both the Fuel Level Sensor assembly as well as the Fuel Tank before refilling the tank followed by securing the fuel filler cap. The negative Battery Cable should be reconnected before inspecting for fuel leaks by enabling the ignition for two seconds followed by a ten-second off period then checking for leaks during the two-second on phase.
