Alternator

The generator requires replacement so the first step is to disconnect the negative Battery Cable and remove three components: drive belt along with radiator support sight shield and upper front generator mounting bolt. A worker should initiate generator repair by raising the vehicle before using tools to eliminate both the engine splash shield and generator access cover bolts then uninstall the cover assembly. First remove the generator output bat terminal nut by disconnecting the generator's positive lead before moving the protective cover away from the bat terminal. Start by loosening the engine-mounted rear generator bracket before progressing to remove all four bolts connecting the generator. To extract the a/c compressor/generator front bracket securely place the generator above the a/c compressor clutch pulley and remove three bolts securing this section to the engine and a/c compressor before backing out the bracket and rotating the generator for vehicle removal. Position the generator above the a/c compressor clutch pulley during installation by securing the a/c compressor/generator front bracket with finger tightened mounting bolts before torqueing the upper engine mounting bolt to 50 n.m (37 lb ft). Also torque the lower engine mounting bolt to 50 n.m (37 lb ft) and the a/c compressor mounting bolt to 50 n.m (37 lb ft). Finger tighten all generator mounting bolts first before securing the generator to the engine and a/c compressor. Finish installation by tightening the rear generator bracket bolts to the engine, upper rear mounting bolt, lower rear mounting bolt, and lower front mounting bolt to 50 n.m (37 lb ft). Connect the wiring harness connector to the generator before you connect the battery positive lead and tighten the generator output bat terminal nut to 12.5 n.m (111 lb in). To finish installation, apply the generator output bat terminal cover followed by mounting the access panel to the lower front compartment. Use 20 n.m (15 lb ft) torque when tightening the securing bolts. After lowering the vehicle down you should install the upper front mounting bolt while maintaining a torque of 47 n.m (35 lb ft). Install the radiator support sight shield while you complete the installation of the Drive Belt followed by reattaching the battery negative cable.

Begin the Alternator repair by cutting off the negative Battery Cable followed by belt removal and radiator panel and front engine shield removal. The first step involves taking out the upper front bolt from the generator before employing vehicle support and engine bracket loosening from the motor. After disassembling the top bolt and front lower bolt and lower rear bolt and upper rear bolt it's time to remove the duct that exits at the generator's rear end. Start by cutting power connections to the generator through its regulator and battery output as well as heated windshield components (if present). Following this step you can detach the front generator a/c bracket to rotate the generator free from the vehicle. The generator needs to be positioned back into the vehicle before installing the front generator a/c bracket. Secure the generator's battery output cable at 12 n.m (106 lb in) torque when making electrical connections. Place the duct behind the generator where it meets the black generator duct and fasten the upper rear mounting bolt to 50 n.m (37 lb ft), the lower rear mounting bolt to 50 n.m (37 lb ft) and the front mounting bolt to 50 n.m (37 lb ft). Install the rear generator bracket bolt to the engine followed by a torque setting of 50 n.m (37 lb ft), then lower the vehicle. The installation continues with the front engine splash shield followed by the radiator support access panel then mounting the upper front bolt with a torque setting of 47 n.m (35 lb ft). To complete the repair install the accessory Drive Belt while attaching the negative Battery Cable to the battery.

When changing the denso sc1 (KG9) generator start by disconnecting the negative cable of the battery followed by removing the Drive Belt and Radiator. Remove the generator output bat terminal nut by detaching the protective boot from the generator output bat terminal and disconnecting the wiring harness connector from the generator. First remove generator bolts (1, 2) while loosening the lower bolt and then extract the generator from the vehicle. Position the generator next to the A/C Compressor and engine before securing its mounting bolts (1, 2) with a torque setting of 50 n.m (37 lb ft). Secure the wiring harness connector to the generator before installing the battery positive lead and tightening the generator output bat terminal nut to 12.5 n.m (111 lb in). After reinstalling the Radiator, press the protective boot onto the generator output bat terminal before reattaching the battery negative cable and putting on the Drive Belt.

Press the protective cover onto the generator output BAT terminal, position the generator access cover to the front compartment lower panel, and install the bolts securing it, tightening them to 20 N.m (15 lb ft). Install the engine splash shield, lower the vehicle, install the upper front mounting bolt, tightening it to 47 N.m (35 lb ft), then install the radiator support sight shield, the drive belt, and finally reconnect the battery negative cable.

There are 3 shims located between the auxiliary generator and the front of the auxiliary generator bracket.

Connect the wiring harness connector to the generator.
