Handle

You need a flat-blade tool to remove the pickup box endgate handle bezel before taking out the endgate bedliner. The bolts which grip the pickup box endgate handle to the endgate should be taken out. When you raise the endgate handle you will find access to its lower latch rod retaining clip which you can then disconnect to slide out the rod. Position the lower handle downward until you can reach the upper latch rod retaining clip. Disconnect this clip and slide the upper latch rod out. Begin installation of the new pickup box endgate handle by placing the handle in an upward position to insert the lower latch rod into the retaining clip and reattach the clip. Next lower the handle to insert the upper latch rod and reconnect its retaining clip. Fasten the pickup box endgate handle onto the endgate through bolting while tightening the fasteners to 25 N.m (18 lb ft). Once complete, reinstall the endgate bedliner and fit the endgate handle bezel around the handle before pressing the bezel until retainers fully settle into position.

You start by pulling out the pickup box tailgate latch handle bezel with a flat-bladed tool followed by removing the tailgate bedliner. Begin by undoing the bolts that hold the tailgate latch handle of the pickup box tailgate to the tailgate framework. The process of removing tailgate latch rods from the handle requires first elevating the tailgate handle to expose the lower latch rod retaining clip which needs to be disconnected before the lower latch rod can be removed. Lower the handle once you have reached the upper latch rod retaining clip to take it off and slip the upper latch rod out. Install the new tailgate latch handle on the pickup box and attach the rods by raising the handle to insert the lower rod into its retaining clip followed by reattachment then lowering the handle to install the upper rod and secure its retaining clip. Install bolts to fix the tailgate handle on the pickup box and torque them to 25 N.m (18 lb ft). Reinstall the tailgate bedliner before positioning the bezel around the handle and pressing the bezel down until all retainers seat properly.

You must remove two screws from the handle grip and loosen the trim panel to access the liftgate handle on the utility tailgate. Unfasten the liftgate handle rod retainer followed by disconnecting the bolts (Wrench) that secure the liftgate outside handle. Pull the outer handle from the liftgate. Place the liftgate outside handle on the gate first then fasten the bolts and tighten them to 4 N.m (35 lb in). Thread the liftgate handle rod through the liftgate handle before settling it down and locking the retainer. Put back the liftgate trim panel.

Start by removing the handle grip screws and liftgate trim panel during tailgate handle replacement. Start by removing the liftgate handle rod retainer and afterward remove the bolts (W705202S) that secure the liftgate outside handle to the liftgate. Finally take out the liftgate outside handle. To start the installation process secure the liftgate outside handle to the liftgate according to Service Precautions Fastener Notice. Use parts W705202S and apply 4 N.m torque (35 lb in) to bolt the handle into place. The liftgate handle rod installation must begin with attaching the rod to the tailgate handle followed by tight retaining before putting back the liftgate trim panel.

Detach the inside door handle rod and remove the retaining rivets for the inside door handle.

Slide the new inside door handle forward into place.

Reinstall the screws to attach the inside handle to the endgate handle assembly, tightening them to 2.8 N.m (25 lb in).

Remove the door trim panel.

Install the screws to retain the inside handle to the endgate handle assembly, tightening them to 2.8 N.m (25 lb in).

Remove the door trim panel.

Plug the screw access hole.

Take out the handle retaining bolt and slide the handle forward to release the handle locator tab from the locator cutout.
